How and why I became a memoir advisor
I’m a published author, produced playwright and practicing monologist. I put a lot of time and effort into bringing vivid characters to life. In my work as memoir advisor, I help real people tell their stories, and I can help you tell yours.
I acquired my skills because I wanted to make a meaningful record of my own parents’ life experiences. They survived some of the worst circumstances of the Second World War. I learned the art of listening. Really listening. Of retaining information, taking note of their most significant relationships and circumstances, asking the right questions at the right time and weaving these
anecdotes into narratives even they never articulated to themselves. It occurred to me that I could put these skills to use helping other people tell their stories.
As a writer, I find this work truly satisfying. Listening to the stories of people who have led full lives fascinates me because no two lives are alike. It amazes me to think that with all of the millions upon millions of lives humans have lived on our planet, no two happened in exactly the same way.
